Sunday Workshops to enrich the compassionate citizens in you

Our understanding, built over the years, suggest that in the landscape of environmental
conservation and wildlife protection, ‘Awareness’ is as critical as ‘Action’. Most of the
harm we inflict on Mother Nature is the consequence of our ignorance, and if we can
successfully spread awareness, it can be cut down to the minimum. Bangalore is a city
well known for its opulent nature, and aptly, has been conferred with the title-
‘Garden City’. But the recent decades have been hard on the city, and the Garden City
as we know is turning out to be a mirage of the past.

Every citizen has an indisputable role in preserving its wildlife heritage. We, at
PfA Wildlife Hospital, with the help of conscientious citizens across the city have been
successfully conducting awareness campaigns, events and programs to sensitise the public
on environmental conservation and wildlife protection. While we conduct veterinary
workshops routinely, we decided to start conducting Sunday Workshops for the public
to take part in. These workshops are handled by experts from the respective fields and
cover vast topics, from species identification and behavioural patterns to wildlife
conservation and photography.

The first one in the series was held on the 3rd of November 2019. The workshop was on
the topic ‘Identification and Behaviour of Snakes’. Hosted by our  team of veterinarians,
the workshop saw the participation of wildlife enthusiasts in and around Bangalore. The following awareness workshop held on the 11th of November titled ‘Fauna around Us’
had  participants who were elucidated on the wildlife living around us in an urban
environment. It was concluded with nature walk around the 6-acre lush green PfA campus
where the participants identified the biodiversity that surrounds.

The third workshop held on the 24th of November was on ‘Ethical Wildlife Photography.
It was facilitated by Pavan Yaragudi, a wildlife photographer and mentor based in Bangalore.
The participants were fortunate to have the presence of Gururaj Moorching, a businessman
turned birder, who has a record for photo-documenting 951 species of birds in just one
year (2018) out of the total 1,317 species in India. The experts took the participants for a
photography tour around the campus and a lake nearby

PfA hosts interesting workshops every Sunday and for more details on the upcoming
workshops, you can follow us on Facebook
